1971 Citroen 2CV

September 3, 2008

I used to be acquainted with an eccentric wing-nut who used a 2CV as his daily driver in Newfoundland.  Funny enough the thing (no, not VW)  wasn’t half bad in the snow, although heat and snow coming in from the “roof” was a bitch.  Paint this one yellow and pretend you are James Bond in “For your eyes Only”.

I guess its conceivable that it could be a chick magnet just on the sheer odness and uniqueness of the thing, almost like John Cleese. This model in our Halifax Used Car Showroom has 75,000km on its rebuilt (2003) engine, standard and optional moonscape roof.

1988 Pontiac Fiero GT

August 15, 2008

Yes, the Fiero, inspired by that crazy man who brought us the orginal Goat, swindled the Irish into building a factory and was made famous by his weakness for young accomplices and coke: John Z Delorean.

The fiero was to be a commuter car and it was inspired by John Z’s Banshee Prototype, it evolved over its production run into a half decent sports car, and then the general killed it.  RIP Fiero 1984-1988.

This Fine example in our Halifax Used Car Showroom is untouched and almost factory fresh.  It is the GT with the upgraded 2.8 V6 engine, 5 speed Transmission, improved suspension, bodywork and Fatter rubber, 126,000 km, factory air and am/fm/cassette.

Come down and sample this one today at our Halifax Used Car Showroom

1977 Subaru Brat

August 13, 2008

An Automotive Iconoclast brought to you from the creator of the NB Bricklin and the man responsible for bringing Yugo to North America and currently fighting for the right to give us ‘cherry bombs’ ; Malcolm Bricklin.

Launched in 1977, the Subaru BRAT was designed for the American hippie/yuppie/preppie market and became symbolic in New England and Northwest United States. Brat  stands for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter.

The Cars were exceptional in snow, mud, sand and water and have earned a loyal following.  I used to see tons of them when travelling in New England and always thought it ironic that the man who could build a car in Canada, wouldn’t import one.  The subsquent Legacy based Gen II Brat was too far from its orginal simplistic transportation motif to be succesfull.

Its most promising design feature were two hard plastic seats in the back, designed for your Labradors/and or noisy kids to have a spot to lie down or be in time out.

The Stats:

1,600-cc engine is a horizontally opposed four-cylinder
carbureted
67 horsepower
four-speed manual transmission.

1977 Monte Carlo

August 8, 2008

350 4bbl V8, 3 speed automatic, swivel @# seats, Corvette wheels, 169,000 miles, enjoy this newly restored 77 Monte Carlo in the sun and in the snow.  This was the car that I learned how to power out of a slide in the snow, be warned the car has a very heavy front end. For crusing and posing, there is none finer.  Certified 10 point car by the Monte Carlo Club of Nova Scotia.  70’s NASCAR races are on permanent flashback in this car.

1986 Dodge Diplomat

August 8, 2008

1986 Dodge Diplomat
In a transition form RWD to FWD in the 80’s, my dad bought a used 86 gold four door Diplomat, the upside, the cops had a ghost car just like it, the opportunites for fun were unlimited, my apologizes to Ken Sampson. Needless to say we had a lot of fun with this car and so can you.

The Diplomat line offered the 2 bbl 318 V8 120 hp power plants and the standard Torqueflite 3 speed automatic transmission.  All Diplomats were equipped with Chrysler’s Lean Burn emissions control system introduced on the F body, and all ran on unleaded fuel.

The POWER Numbers
